I needed a good start to the morning and what do you know… I got an Omastar in wonder trade on home. Not something I can use, right? But when I checked the GTS for potential trades, I got a shiny Hisuian Goodra , level 100, ready to go. Now I do have one in Champions already. I then managed to wipe out the word Goodra from my entire document when I went to search for it to see what I spent on the one in the game… I accidentally replaced it with nothing. I didn’t know that was possible. So, that ruins my master document. Hurray… great start ruined. Thanks to insomnia keeping me up a huge chunk of the night again and messing up my whole morning.

Anyway, this was a great find. But I had to reconstruct my document because of this. Good thing I have the posts on obscure curiosities already. There’s no undo for that feature! What was Google thinking? Obviously, I’m not going to waste time replacing all the missing mentions of Goodra… but damn I need to be more careful!  Actually yes I am, because fortunately, that just meant taking these notes this morning, copying them to another document and reverting to yesterday’s version. (I have a master document for these notes that I will be filling up each month, so these are for April, the next document will be for May and so on. It’s so I’m not dealing with a massive amount of individual files.)

Finally, I got the info I needed: I did spend a Teammate ticket on the Hisuian Goodra I have in game. But I haven’t trained it for anything yet. However, we could also just have two different builds… the shiny one I got has a Sassy nature with the Sap Sipper ability and is built for bulk. We could use our one in game as a more offensive set and make the shiny one bulkier. In other words, I should just have both available.

Also, obviously I’m rather foggy this morning. Even after a shower and having some electrolytes, I can tell this isn’t going to be a great day for tactical competition. After replacing the Goodra I got with a random Electrike from GO for wonder trade shenanigans, and having my new Hisuian Goodra visit Champions, we can FINALLY get started.

The shiny Goodra has a move set of Shelter, Draco Meteor, Flamethrower, and Flash Cannon. So it’s already pretty offensive. This means we can have our existing Goodra be our Body Press-running stall set with Life Dew. However, I still think I want Body Press over Flamethrower, which makes this a GREAT attacker for Trick Room! Torkoal was sort of an odd fit for that “meta” team anyway. We give our goopy dragon Lum Berry.

This will be our team for today: Sitrus Berry Incineroar, Mental Herb Farigarif, Leftovers Sinistcha, Mega Floette, Mega Drampa, Lum Berry Hisuian Goodra.

I’m also working on a fourth team, which will be a Sun team. We could really use a good Venusaur, though. Onto recruitment: and would you look at that? One of my all time favorite Pokemon is here for the first time! FROSLASS! I couldn’t click Teammate ticket fast enough! We now have a chance to run our Kryptonite Mega Froslass! I don’t quite have the teammates for it yet, but that’s a huge get for us.

Unfortunately, the weekly missions haven’t yet reset… I need to wait ten more hours. So just a couple quick double battles with the Trick Room team today for now. Not gonna wait until 6pm to play again. A quick session today.

Right away, I don’t think it’s a good call to have both Mega Drampa and Hisuian Goodra on the team at the same time. I simply can’t bring them to some matchups. Good thing I have Mega Floette. Which can KO a mega meganium at +2 with moonblast… they forfeited! HURRAY! I switch out Mega Drampa for… well we shall see after our second recruit.

OK THIS IS OUR DAY FOLKS! MEGA GOLURK BABY! Teammate ticket, here you go! Well, we fond our other mega… It needs a LOT of training, so we’ll need a ticket for it. The move set is easy: Protect, Headlong Rush, Ice Punch, and Poltergeist. No Guard means it never misses in base form, although nothing can miss it, either. Maybe Iron Fist is better? Anyway, Unseen Fist is Mega Golurk’s ability, and it hits for ¼ damage through Protect type moves. Pretty neat. We want Brave nature, as this is a trick room mon. I decide to fully invest in HP instead of either defense stat. I did need to go buy the Golurkite, and that got me an achievement for spending money in the shop… so I netted 500 VP with that 2K VP reward. Fun stuff.

Just one more game here. Yet another game not good for Goodra, but not for Floette, either. Mega Golurk time! Bye bye Garchomp. And my giraffe got up trick room. Although they have Mega Scizor. Haven’t seen him in awhile. Headlong rush did a ton, but they got a will o wisp on my golurk. I switch to incineroar to set defenses after using Headlong Rush and my Sinsitcha took out their mega before going down. A worthy sacrifice. I fake out their rotom and headlong rush their gengar. It does have a sash as I figured. Golurk doesn’t survive a shadow ball so it’s gonna be close. But I have one more turn of trick room so Farigarif finishes Gengar. Psychic is disabled by Cursed Body but mental herb fixes that. It ended up being a 1 v 1 between Incin and Heat Rotom, and they made a desperation Thunder Wave. It didn’t matter as the big cat hit through with Lariat and we got a very close win. Well, then, Mega Golurk is good!

As for Mega Froslass, I’m building towards the Bulky build with Aurora Veil, Blizzard, Shadow Ball, and Protect, with a Modest nature. We could go the Glass Cannon route which is Timid and runs Thunderbolt over Aurora Veil, but I find the Bulky version is the one we typically lose to, anyway. Hey now I can make other people lose to it, too! That’s a good use of a Training Ticket. I grabbed the mega stone, too.

I’d play more, but since we have no more goals to complete at the moment, I’ll just wait. Great day for us, finally!
