I needed a nap so I didn’t get back to champions until the late afternoon. I decided to switch things up and use the auto build team feature to see what the game gives me. I do have Floette. But I’ve decided not to use it just yet. The game told me I should use charizard and Steelix as my megas. Gengar with focus sash is still here. Dragapult makes its debut with a lum berry. Drampa returns with a Sitrus berry. Our mvp wash rotom keeps its choice scarf. Not sure how I feel about this team. But I just want to see what happens. 

We’re rank 2 in double battles. Can this AI built team succeed? I have no idea what four pokemon to bring here, so I guess we shall see how dragapult and wash do as a lead. Aerodactyl hits rock slide, and flinches rotom of course. Dragon darts from the pult does nice chip to both. Pelipper protects. This is fine. Rock slide hits both again, but this time rotom doesn’t flinch and wrecks aero. Let’s see what Drampa can do. Archuladon comes out. I tried to will o wisp with dragapult but because of tailwind it got nothing done. Drampa did nail Pelipper though. Sinisticha comes in and because archaduladon is full health doesn’t do much with hospitality. Archaludon hits charizard hard. Mayxa gotcja only hits charizard. And flare blitz only does 30 percent! However tailwind is over. Outrage pulverizes sinistcha. We lose charizard but it did the job. Drampa hits hard, and the rain stops. It’s a 2 v 1 and rotom’s shadow ball hits. We lose Drampa. But we have scarf rotom. We win! Holy crap that team won!

Not only did we win, we shot right up to halfway through great ball tier 1! I’m a bit shocked this team worked. The only real mistake I made was dragapult should have used sucker punch on Pelipper. All good. Drampa actually did OK!

Steelix is good our next game! Let’s see how him and Rotom lead off against clefable and gengar. We mega and go for earthquake since we levitate with rotom. They mega gengar. Clefable uses follow me which is hilarious. It’s a perish song team! Unfortunately I kinda messed up and Drampa switched in first. But oh boy their Gengar is gone. And they forfeited! I won! What is this team! Ultra ball tier! When you get there the first time, you get another 5 pokemon slots! I bought drampaite to be funny, although it could be viable in trick room later. I also wonder if maybe charizard y and its drought is better in this format right now because of all the rain teams. So I bought that mega stone, too. 

It’s ultra ball tier. No more messing around! We lead rotom and dragapult with charizard Y and Drampa in the back. Faeigarif and incin are the leads. Incin fakes out rotom and dragon darts did some decent work. As I suspected here’s trick room. I stupidly use sucker punch on armor tail Farigarif. Losing dragapult to flare blitz puts me badly behind. So Drampa will need to take advantage of trick room and charizard y will need to mega and go nuts with outrage. They end up proc berserk on Drampa and outrage whips farigarif. Mega tyranitar is an issue though. Hyper voice destroys incin. But rock slide finishes charizard and frampa is low. The sandstorm takes out Drampa. Rotom is good but they have one pokemon left. So yeah. Im toast. I play it out. with trick room still up I never get another attack. Yeah I don’t think this team will cut the mustard here. 

I asked the cpu to make me a team with Floette in it. The same team got spit out with charizard. I’m not satisfied. Dragapult has been underwhelming. But we saw that there is potential here. So let’s see what mega Floette can do. I know I wasn’t going to use any outside pokemon in champions. But I’m curious to see how much it elevates this team. Or do we bring back our old team? Im leaning on the latter option. I’m gonna run mega Floette, mega dragonite, sash gengar, sitrus Azumarill, leftovers Drampa, and scarf rotom. I love Gallade and we have some other mons I’d love to try. But I’m not messing around. And I didn’t grind ZA infinite royale for nothing. 

For my last battle before dinner I lead Floette and rotom, with Drampa and azu in the back. Sneasler is a problem. But we will see how they lead here. They take until 6 seconds left to choose Pokemon. As I expected, sneasler and Dragonite. I decide to be super aggressive, moonblast Dragonite right away. They do mega. They are faster but lets see what happens. Volt switch does a good chunk to teaser to switch in Drampa. Unfortunately they draco that slot… oops. Ok that is fatigue and hunger. And Floette dies in one hit. Okay I need to forfeit and rethink everything. I decided to dump Drampa for now and bring back black belt Gallade. But clearly I should’ve switched in Azu there… although sneasler was just too much of a problem. That was just a remarkably horrible matchup. Good news is I can’t rank down it seems. So yeah. I should be done for today. What a Terrible way to go out. 

Never mind. I’m forcing one more battle. That was just too awful to end it. And this team is one I don’t matchup well against either. Awgislash and talonflame isn’t great. They get off tailwind although I do protect Floette. Rotom is able to bring talonflame to sash. So I played that turn well. I delayed dinner just to play this. I wet for icy wind on Gengar. This was good because the aegis went for kings shield. Talon flame kills itself doing a ton to Floette with flare blitz. So dazzling gleam is blanked. I have to play on the back foot. Their meganium is obviously their mega. And we know how badly I play against that. (I need to make mine work honestly.) I had to eat dinner while playing this out. So I stopped taking notes.  But I did take out the mega. And for some reason they forfeited. Uhh. Okay? To be fair my floette’s dazzling gleam did a ton and aegislash wasn’t going to survive a volt switch. I also still had Azu. So I think that was still winnable for me somehow. Also I think they rage quit. I’ll take it for today. 

This makes me wonder, how many people will rage quit just because of a big hit from Mega Floette? It’s a pretty hated Pokemon in the community already for how annoying it is to acquire. And yeah, I wanted to only win with recruits. But why limit myself arbitrarily? Anyway, I went too hard today and the nap wasn’t enough. I’m going to have to be satisfied with getting to ultra ball with a CPU made team and letting Mega Floette get me a cheap win.
