With no weekly or membership missions available until tomorrow, I’m doing the absolute bare minimum today. I have other things to work on all of a sudden. Kind of an underwhelming first recruit today, although I really do like the female Meowstic. I really like the Sylveon, too, but I’ll take Meowstic here and recruit it for 2500 VP.

I plan to start using my trick room team again, but for now I’m just doing a couple single battles. Azu is back in our lineup, but not for this first game. They lead Drampa against my Meowscarada. And mine has Play Rough, so yeah, that went well for me! Not sure what Whims can do to me. Not much. Thanks Protean for making me Fairy type! Steelix is kind of an issue but this is what we have U-Turn for… Charizard Y comes in as the steel snake goes for Rock Polish. I decide to Mega Evolve and see what move it goes for, as I have Aegislash in the back. High Horsepower? Why did they go for that against Charizard? Heat Wave wrecks it anyway and I get a 3-0 win!

Obviously with that win, we go again. My Azu was a terrible lead versus their Gengar so in came Garchomp, and they used Thunderbolt! Great switch. They do have sash on their gengar, and energy ball, which I didn’t expect. I’m locked into EQ as they switch to Incin. Even intimidated I do a ton. Their fake out only delays the inevitable. Dang Choice Scarf garchomp is putting it work! Medicham is probably their mega, so I switch back to Azu expecting an Ice Punch or something. It was actually close combat, and it did less than half. And yet this time it gets a crit. That’s not good. However, I think they are scarf, not mega. Can Charizard Y hit Hurricane? They do sac their Gengar here, which makes sense. And I miss Hurricane. Of course. Thunderbolt does a ton. Am I gonna lose to bad luck? Well, I’m gonna protect and see what move they want to use here that they’re locked in. All they got is close combat apparently. I need to hit this hurricane… but nope it outspeeds and kills Charizard. Definitely scarf. Yuck. BUT GARCHOMP ONE HITS WITH DRAGON CLAW! Thanks close combat defense nerfs! I BARELY won that.

This third game I had no idea who to bring… I’m trying to use the reverse method of eliminating the obvious ones not to bring. But in singles this is tough. I was right, however, about their Lopunny being mega… it’s a good one. Their fake out does insane damage, but Play Rough from Meowscarada is so powerful. (The Lopunny is half fighting, remember.) Instant forfeit on that knockout.

And we’re in Ultra Ball for singles! So after that beautiful 3-win streak, let’s do our extra recruit for today. Unfortunately, the best mon here is Talonflame, and I have a shiny one in ZA ready to go when I need it. I take Runerigus simply because I don’t have one available to me at the moment. I will use it at some point so 2500 VP is a bargain.

Fourth battle I lead Umbreon VS Garchomp. They go straight for outrage and I get off Toxic. They retreat their garchomp for Archadulon as I protected. I switch into Aegislash. Flash cannon doesn’t do crap. But they set up Stealth Rock VERY bad for Charizard. They switch to Gengar, interesting. Apparently that’s their mega. And my Shadow Sneak does 98 percent! Well, I didn’t expect that to do so much. But I’m in a bad position. The rocks taking half of Charizard’s health, Aegislash going down, and Umbreon so low? The win streak is over. The gengar has destiny bond… I just forfeit as I can’t win this 1 v 2. Guess I’m done for now. Still made some nice progress and got some achievements done, too.
