For many years, I’ve been chasing potential, and I’ve learned the hard way that sometimes you just have to meet people where they’re at. And unfortunately, I’ve never been particularly good at meeting people where they’re at because I am so consistently ensconced in the concept of what they could be or what I perceive them to be able to become. I really love that word ensconced and I think the reason being is that by saying that someone doesn’t reach the potential that I have prescribed to them the idea that they have somehow defined my expectations in the negative that makes me feel better about myself somehow and really I shouldn’t look at people like that.
